He obtained a vocational certificate in industrial design and adjustment. He then joined the design office of Ponts et Chaussées and studied at the CNAM (Arts et Métiers). Full of ideas, he tested several projects at home, such as a vertical aquarium. He also designed hi-fi furniture, side tables, lighting fixtures, etc. Vandel was a true enthusiast! In 1969, Vandel found his distributor: the company Marais International. The latter placed an order for 5,000 pieces. He founded his workshop and then had a decisive encounter: he became friends with the famous Pierre Cardin. He helped him found his brand Pierre Vandel-Paris.
