MICHIELS (Alfred) - Les Bucherons et les schlitteurs des Vosges. Forty original drawings by Théophile Schuler. Paris, Strasbourg, Paulin Le Chevalier, E. Simon, 1878; folio, 35 pp. + 40 plates, illustrated publisher's hardback (minor defects from use). In fact there are not 40 but 43 lithographs, and even 44 if you count the hardback illustration. The illustrations also deal with the world that lives in the woods: washerwomen, timber floating, schlitte builders, stump pullers. He even depicts the lumberjacks' nap.
