"Mado Jolain "for Sale" Beautiful Small Ceramic Lamp, White Earth, Unsigned"
MADO JOLAIN "FOR SALE" Beautiful little ceramic lamp, white earth, unsigned MADO JOLAIN is a French ceramist. Training as a ceramist acquired at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. This training allowed her to survive, by supplying fashion accessories to the houses of Parisian Haute Couture. In 1946, she set up in a workshop on rue d'Alésia. Her production is that of the time: finials and stylized roosters rub shoulders with religious scenes. She participated in the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs and that of Imagerie. Her success was certain. Colette Gueden, the high priestess of L'Atelier Primavera in the Printemps store, called on her talent. She exhibits regularly in Parisian galleries: L'Arcade, la Porte Etroite or the Galerie du Siècle, or even with decorators such as Sarmadiras or Merceron. In 1955, the prestigious Galerie La Demeure Place Saint-Sulpice presents her work. In the early 1960s, Mado Jolain develops new lines of ceramics for the garden. In 1963, the Cahiers de la Céramique et du Verre report on the exhibition that the Galerie du Siècle has just dedicated to her in Paris. It was not until the year 2000 that the Galerie A Rebours of Patrick Favardin presents the work of this ceramicist in a retrospective manner. In 2016, the Galerie Artrium Thomas Fritsch dedicated an exhibition to her and La Revue de la Céramique et du verre published an article about her in September 2016. Alongside her work as a ceramicist, Mado Jolain participated in the creation and adventure of boutiques selling modular objects and furniture for the Quatre Saisons home in Paris, then in Avignon and Aix-en-Provence MORE INFO ASK ME
