Art Deco period inkwell (1910-1940) Red griotte marble, finely decorated glass inkwell with two compartments and its lid. 4 notches to hold two pens. 4 small gilded bronze feet. Red griotte marble (name of the cherry) was the marble of choice for the royal apartments under Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. Also very famous in the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th for decorative objects: clocks, statuettes, inkwells...
