Diameter at base: 10.8cm (left vase) / 10.4cm (right vase)
For a similar model, dated 1639, see:
- Blanc de Chine, PJ Donnelly, 6.C
Provenance:
- C. Collier & Co, 7&8 Hobart Place, London
Slight colour difference between the two vases, one is more cream than the other, there are also glaze and firing defects.
The vase on the left has two chips at the base, and a chip at the neck as well as a loss to one of the rings, we also note some glaze drips and some firing defects, as well as small firing cracks in places.
The vase on the right, more cream, has losses to one of the rings, a firing crack at the base and some cracks. The two vases, although presented as a pair, have some differences, the beasts heads are slightly taller and wider on the vase on the right, and the ring is also a little wider. They nevertheless have the same provenance.
