LANGEAIS FIREFIGHTER HELMET, MODEL 1852, SECOND EMPIRE. Entirely in brass, bomb topped with a crest composed of: Two fins stamped with a decreasing series of gadroons. The crest is topped with a black horsehair chenille. Front plate in embossed brass decorated in its center with a flaming bomb between two crossed axes on a background of laurel leaves with a ribbon bearing the inscription "Srs POMPIERS DE LANGEAIS". Movable visor stamped with two crossed axes. Brass chinstraps embossed in relief with a series of scalloped and chiseled scales, round rosettes stamped in relief with gadroons. Plume holder of square section slightly decreasing towards the bottom, tightening screw missing. General condition ABE, with traces of use. Inner cap missing France. Second Empire.
