French school, early 20th century. Large bronze proof with green patina representing a rider mastering three wild horses. Lost wax edition cast by SUSSE Frères in Paris, hollow marked and stamp of the founder SUSSE, numbered 5. This bronze was the subject of a first cultural prize by the Ministry of Agriculture of Puy de Dôme in 1939. Paul SILVESTRE (1884-1976) was a student at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1912. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des artistes Français where he received an honorable mention in 1910. Silver medal in 1922 and gold medal in 1930. Non-competitive member of the Salon. He received an honorary diploma for the 1937 International Exhibition. Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1926.
