"Borne Clock In Gilt Bronze And Patina Circa 1805"
A clock in the 2nd office of the Emperor Clock terminal in patinated bronze and bronzes of chiseled and gilded appliques and in antique green marble from the empire period. The terminal in bronze with green patina receives on each side a caduceus (symbolizing commerce). A central Lyre is flanked on either side by pilasters, decorated with ribboned arrows in patinated bronze and topped with acacia branches emphasizing the terminal. The base is decorated on the front with two leaning griffins protecting the central urn and on each side with a laurel wreath. The base is in antique green marble veneer rests on 4 feet in the shape of a flattened ball. The movement striking the hours and half hours has an operating time of 8 days, the suspension is by wire. White enamel dial (missing), blued steel hands. Empire period around 1805. Dimensions: height 37 cm, width 18.5 cm, depth 11.5 cm
