DINNER CARRIER truncated in pewter with quarter-round groove, lid with central grip and swinging handle with attachments with curly cherub heads.
Height at the throat: 10.2 cm.

Small dimensions are the rarest.
Model by Claude-François BOUVIER not hallmarked.
This object was used by shepherds and field workers, day laborers, etc. There were several sizes, the number of which varied according to the production centers, from 4 to 6. The shapes of these dinner holders are variable, they are truncated in Burgundy, pomiform in Ile-de-France, flared in Anjou... the handle attachments, depending on the region, feature cherub heads, rosettes, fleurons, human masks, etc. At the BOUVIER in CLAMECY, we note small variations in the number of curls in the hair of the cherub heads of the handle attachments
