Japan, 19th century, beautiful print depicting two geishas in a garden. A calligraphed fan adorns the upper part of the composition. A red cartouche bears the artist's signature. The previous owner, an aesthete collector of Japanese arts, explains on the back that the print was drawn by Tsunoda Kunisada (1786-1864) and that in 1844 he signed Toyokuni III. The paper is lightly embossed with geometric patterns. Good condition and superb colors. Margins most certainly cut. Some traces of humidity and browning without affecting the aesthetics. Dimensions on sight: Height 35 cm. Width 25.4 cm (50 cm x 35.6 cm with the frame).
