Son of the pastry chef of the Prince of Condé, Jean-Pierre Feuillet (1777-1840) learned to paint at the school founded by the prince in his castle near Paris, in Chantilly. On July 20, 1814, at the restoration of the Bourbons, Feuillet settled in Paris as one of the first porcelain decorators on the rue de la Paix, under the protection of the prince. Feuillet acquired the reputation of being one of the best porcelain decorators in the capital. His suppliers of white porcelain were always of high quality, with names such as Nast and Darte Frères.
