"Maurice Levis -1860-1941"
The Vernon Bridge Oil on canvas signed lower right 38 X 55 cm located on the back and countersigned Maurice Lévis is influenced by the Barbizon School and naturalism, then discovers the Pont Aven region. He travels to Africa and the Indian Ocean and paints works there that place him in the orientalist movement. He is a member of the Society of French Artists from 1888, winning an honorable mention in 1895, a third class medal in 1896 and a gold medal in 1927. Maurice Lévis paints scenes of country life, seaside and travel during his travels in Africa and the Indian Ocean.
