Mahogany and beech stool seat offering three heights of use by different arrangement of support on the ground. The same seat can therefore be used for children of different ages: From a baby chair, the seat transforms into a school stool or low stool. Design Marcel Gascoin, ARHEC edition, France, circa 1950. Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is a designer-decorator from Le Havre, who trained as a carpenter-cabinetmaker at the School of Fine Arts in Le Havre and took theoretical courses at ENSAD where the architect Henri Sauvage advised him to move towards modern and social production, an objective that he would follow throughout his career. He would play an important role in the emergence of post-war French design, particularly during the reconstruction.
