Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is a designer-decorator from Le Havre, who trained as a carpenter-cabinetmaker at the School of Fine Arts in Le Havre and took theoretical courses at ENSAD where the architect Henri Sauvage advised him to move towards modern and social production, an objective that he would follow throughout his career. He would play an important role in the emergence of post-war French design, particularly during the reconstruction.
