"Bronze Faun, After Claude Michel, Called ''clodion'' (1738- 1814)"
After Claude Michel Clodion (1738-1814), remarkable large bronze sculpture with a brown nuanced patina, representing a satyr figure also called a faun. French work of the Second Empire, circa 1860. On its naturalistic mound, is represented seated, legs crossed, a mythological figure in the movement of waking up, a juvenile faun, also known as a satyr, directly inherited from Greek mythology, an anthropomorphic creature with goat's legs, tail and ears. The plump body, the chubby baby face, sitting on a sheepskin, on a tree trunk, arm raised and bent back, he scratches his head, and with the other hand, he rubs his eyes. He carries his pan flute slung over his shoulder. Exceptional cast with a striking patina, inspired by CLODION. Signature engraved on the mound: '' CLODION ''.
