Very funny painting by Emile TAP (1876-1940). This is an Oil on canvas measuring 55 x 46 cm, titled lower middle "A Rabbit" and signed lower right. Emile TAP is a French illustrator and caricaturist from the early 20th century who worked using various pseudonyms. He worked under the signature Emile TAP for magazines such as "Le Petit Illustré Amusant", "Le Pêle-Mêle", "Le Populaire Illustré", "Le Gaulois", ... Under the pseudonym Rose CANDIDE, it is assumed that he is the author of "Sam et Tap", one of the first comic strips using speech bubbles. He was also a clerk at the Commune Libre de Montmartre.
