Silver-plated cup by Maria Pergay*, oval-shaped decorated with a knotted cord on the front. Circa 1950 France 20th century *Maria Pergay is a French artist designer of Moldovan origin. She was born in 1930. She has lived in Paris since the age of seven. Ten years later, she trained at the Institut des Hautes Études Cinématographiques, in parallel with the courses of the famous sculptor Ossip Zadkine. Married in the fifties to Marc Pergay, Maria Pergay became known to both the public and the profession. Proposals for collaborations then multiplied and major brands such as Dior, Hugonet or Hermès asked her to decorate their windows with her objects. She began by creating a unique collection of silver objects, before meeting Salvador Dali. Pierre Cardin fell completely under the spell of her creations and became her patron. Her creations can be found all over the world, notably in Russia, the United States and even in Saudi Arabia in the palace of the royal family, where Maria Pergay worked for almost ten years.
