Bhutanese dagger with Phoenix and jade dragon design
Early 20th century
Length: 34.5cm - Dagger length: 33.5cm - Blade length: 21.6cm

Horn handle, flanged; metal cap with beaded frieze decoration. Metal pommel with beaded frieze and gilded half-round decoration featuring Nàga Kanya, the guardian goddess of the three kingdoms; engraved on the back.
Single-edged, two-groove, straight, sage-leaf blade with two brass inlays.
Metal-covered wooden scabbard with repoussé decoration and beaded frieze; a gilded ornament, in the half round, depicting the legend of the jade dragon and the phoenix, decorates the front; the back is engraved with foliage motifs. Copper trigger guard.
