RUTILIO MUTI was born in Vícchio di Mugello on 4 September 1904. After primary school, while working as a labourer, he began to draw and became passionate about painting. In 1928, he met the painter Ferruccio Rontini, from the Livorno school, with whom he began to work with great commitment, touring Italy and participating in exhibitions and competitions from which he received recognition and notoriety. Although maturing over the years, his style remained linked to the interpretation of the reality and beauty of his homeland through the poetry of colour, emotion and the enchantment of atmospheres, leaving a living testimony in 20th century landscape painting.
He passed away in 1995.
