"Large Bronze Buddha Head Lan Na"
Large head of Buddha Shakyamuni in bronze (or copper alloy) with a brown patina with green nuances. It is held (free) on its wooden base which has been renovated. Northern Siam (Thailand) End of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century, Lan Na school (Lanna Kingdom: 1292-1892). This bronze is still sealed with its export license from the Department of Fine Arts of Thailand which authorized its exit from the territory at the time. The date 2517 in the Buddhist calendar corresponds to the date mentioned on the inventory label (1973). Provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.
