Imposing sandstone head of a Khmer deity, pre-Angkorian style (8th century). Probably the bodhisattva Maitreya. Cambodia, mid-20th century. Provenance: Estate of the art dealer Claude de Marteau, decorative element of his shop in the Sablon in Brussels. (1970's) Total height 80 CM, approximately 30 kg on sight.
