"Henri Chapu - Allegory Of Truth"
High relief proof entitled "La Vérité", signed by the French sculptor Henri Chapu, an artist of the Second Empire. His works were notably published by the greatest foundries of the time, such as that of the Thiébaut Frères, whose seal adorns the right side. Here it represents an allegorical figure of Truth, in the form of a young woman wearing an elegant antique drape, holding a quill in one hand and a book in the other. The bronze is mounted on a base in red marble veined with white.
