The fixed upper level features 6 compartments with 5 empty rectangular crystal vials closed with emery stoppers, and a glass anesthesia mask; the lower level comprises a drawer with a removable tray containing a handsome hand-held trebuchet with 6 weights and 2 lamellae, underneath which are a glass mortar, 1 engraved glass measuring cup, 1 small pewter vase and another lemon wood measuring cup; on the sides of this drawer are 3 small empty rectangular crystal bottles with emery stoppers.
Unsigned, this box is probably of English manufacture and Victorian, very narrow form this kit could be easily transported by an itinerant apothecary.
