"Biedermeier School (19th Century) - Family Portrait"
- Oil on canvas. Impressive portrait of the Biedermeier family, with figures of brilliant execution and individualism. The psychologies did not go unnoticed by the artist, who places at opposite ends of the scene the military scion, dressed in uniform, and the intellectual student in a black frock coat, on the right side. The two women, the more severe mother, the more tender and younger daughter, surround the son-in-law. The father, drunk, his gaze lost, like Count Waldner in Richard Strauss's "Arabella", falls into the armchair, his cheeks reddened by alcohol. - Dimensions of the unframed image: 83 x 65 cm / 104 x 86 cm with a magnificent original custom-made frame. - From a private collection in Vienna. - Good general condition. Minimal defects. - Montbaron Gallery includes a technical sheet with all its lots.
