Object description :

"Portrait Of A Woman Elisabeth Vigée Lebrun (follower Of) Billet Doux End Of The 18th Century"
The work is of very good quality, the woman is here represented with flowers in her hair.
The subject and erotic, indeed the woman appears with bare breasts, she holds in her hands a bird (may be a carrier pigeon) carrying a sweet note.
This is a recurring theme in the 18th century.

The canvas is in very good condition, the colors are fresh.
It seems that at the beginning the work was oval, the rectangular format was perfectly executed.
We date it from the end of the 18th century or the beginning of the 19th.

This painting reminds us strongly of the works of Madame Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun.
Many of the artist’s works depict portraits of young women with flowers in their hair.
It may be that this work is from a student of the artist.

The work is sold without a frame.

Dimensions:  65 x 54 cm

Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (1745 - 1842).

Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, also known as Élisabeth Vigée, Élisabeth Lebrun or Élisabeth Louise Vigée, born on 16 April 1755 in Paris and died in the same city on 30 March 1842, was a French painter, considered to be a great portraitist of her time.
His art and exceptional career make him a privileged witness to the upheavals of the late 18th century, the French Revolution and the Restoration. Fervent royalist, she was successively painter of the court of France, Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI, the kingdom of Naples, the court of the Emperor of Vienna, the Emperor of Russia and the Restoration.
