Chiseled and gilded bronze, oak, brass and tortoiseshell, zinc.
This exceptional planter is characterized by a contrast between the four curved panels in beautiful Boulle marquetry and a bronze mount with a "messy" and naturalistic decoration of vine branches and ears of wheat.
This contrast is entirely in the spirit of charming objects from the 18th century. The bronzes are striking for the incredible amount of details, almost all in the round.
The theme of wine in the bronze mounts is also linked to the use of this planter as a large cooler.
Condition: Very good condition for this type of object, fully restored. The zinc tub has been sealed for use with soil and plants, the gilding has its patina of use. A few rare losses of brass near and under the bronzes, invisible without verification. A bunch of grapes is missing under a handle, it is invisible.
Dimensions:
Length: 62 cm, width: 37 cm, height: 30 cm.
