Attributed to the manufactory Vion et Baury in Paris. Circa 1870 - 1880.
Lit: Charles Baury (Paris 1827 – 1879) was a sculpture who started as a pupil of Rude to become a modeller at Gille Jeune manufactory (1837-1868). After Gille Jeune’s death (1868) Baury and Désiré Vion acquired the firm on the rue Paradis-Poissonnèrie. In 1875 they moved the production to Choisey-le-roi. Their production was of great quality with a specialty for lage scale figures in polychrome biscuit (unglazed porcelain). Vion will continue in the same type of production after the death of Baury only 2 years later, in 1877. He wins a golden medal in 1878 and 1883. He files for bankruptcy in 1889.
