Bert Stern, photographer for Vogue, arranged to meet Marilyn Monroe at the end of June 1962 at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles for a twelve-hour pose. Twenty years later in 1982 Stern published a souvenir book including a large number of photographs including those refused by the actress: the contact sheets. The photographs have been shown in numerous exhibitions around the world.
