Study of a dress for Paul Poiret
Original drawing watercolor on paper, initials stamped lower right, 32.5 x 25.2 cm In 1910, Paul Poiret was seduced by Raoul Dufy's creations and asked him to create fabrics. Together they founded a fabric printing workshop "La petite usine", Dufy designed the patterns, engraved the wood used for printing and sometimes printed himself. But it was from 1912, by signing a collaboration contract with the Lyon silk factory Bianchini-Férier, that the artist would fully express his talent as a fabric designer and decorator. Mrs. Fanny Guillon-Lafaille and Mr. David Guillon-Lafaille have confirmed the authenticity of this work
