South China or Vietnam, late 19th century, early 20th century, superb and important pair of ornamental panels, in carved, lacquered and gilded wood decorated with dragons in relief placed perpendicular to their supports. These unusual pieces demonstrate great mastery in their execution.Large dimensions: Total height 112 cm. Width 23.3 cm.
Good condition except for slight and two small old restorations on the last point in relief of the back of the two dragons, very little visible and without any impact on the aesthetics. These large panels were electrified so that they support silk lanterns as light fixtures. Information provided to indicate that these magnificent pieces can also have a utilitarian function.
