DESCRIPTION: beautiful ceremonial piece of furniture from the Befort house, in brass and pewter boule marquetry on an ebony veneer background. This piece of furniture takes up the known codes of this cabinetmaker, with its crosier spandrels and its marquetry including Greek friezes. The central medallion is original, representing a seated Roman warrior with a surround of leafy and flowery volutes, set with Greek friezes. The decoration is inlaid with fillets and reserve frames. Beautiful ornamentation of gilded bronzes with high falls in espagnolette and low falls in acanthus leaves. Mahogany interior with shelf, black Aleppo marble top.
