Jules NOEL (1810 - 1881) The painter, well known to lovers of Tréport for having painted a dozen works showing different scenes of the daily life of sailors as well as several views of Tréport. Born in Nancy, it was his father who taught him the basics of drawing. After a career as a drawing teacher, he became a painter and is considered the precursor of Impressionism. He specializes in two themes: landscapes and the sea. The painter was inspired by Le Tréport from 1866 to 1879. A large number of national museums hold works by Jules Noël, including the Louvre Museum, the National Maritime Museum in London, the Château de Versailles Museum, the Dieppe Museum, ...
