"Pair Of 2-light Louis XIV Candelabras In Christofle Dupérier Silver-plated Metal, 20th Century"
Pair of Louis XIV style two-light candelabra, in finely chiseled silver-plated metal decorated with plant arabesques and character masks on the shaft, foot with cut sides, by Maison Christofle* Dupérier model after the famous goldsmith Louis Dupérier (18th century), from the 20th century. These candelabra are in very good condition and are of very good quality. The Dupérier collection was published by Christofle in 1982. It is inspired by a piece made by Louis Dupérier, to whom it owes its name. Received master in 1706, this goldsmith from the beginning of the 18th century is a testament to the Louis XIV style. (See Christofle website). A pair of candlesticks of this model is kept at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Please note: slight wear from time, see photos. *Christofle is a French goldsmith brand, founded in 1830 by Charles Christofle. His master goldsmith's marks were registered in 1845, the date of the first "silver plated goldsmithing" factory. At the end of the 19th century, Christofle was now producing silver plated objects. Emperor Napoleon III ordered all the official dinner services of the Empire from Christofle in 1851. From the second half of the 19th century, Christofle also became the supplier to ministries, embassies, parliaments around the world, but also to luxury hotels, shipping and railway companies, both French and foreign.
