"Large Sèvres Earthenware Dish André Naudy Africanist Decor Nude Woman Art Deco"
Rare large decorative earthenware dish from the Manufacture de Sèvres, signed A. Naudy for the decorator André Naudy*, with an Africanist decoration of a beautiful naked woman seated in a colorful interior, from the 1930s Art Deco period of the 20th century. This dish is in very good condition and is of exceptional quality. Trace of an old label (exhibition or collection) on the back. The Africanist decoration presented here is part of the period of the 1930s and more broadly of the interwar period when motifs and decorations on the theme of Africa were very fashionable and popular; the high points of this craze were the holding in Paris of the Colonial Exhibition of 1931 and that of 1937. Our dish (signature letter C of Sèvres = 1930) could very well have been presented at one or the other of these exhibitions. Please note: slight wear of time, see photos. * André Naudy was a decorator at the Manufacture de Sèvres in 1925 and from 1928 to 1934. He worked with the decorator Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann.
