"Military Parchments Spanish Campaign 1823"
Very interesting lot of 3 military documents in their (extremely rare!) original transport tube! These are the documents that the voltigeur Jean GUIDU carried in 1824 when he returned from the Spanish campaign ordered by Louis XVIII in 1823, in order to join his village of Perreux (Charny), in the Yonne. - 1 document officially ending his service in the 60th line infantry regiment - 1 road map (well completed) allowing the soldier to be housed and fed in the inns where he will stop in order to return home - 1 certificate of good conduct proving the bravery and value of the soldier in combat during this campaign The Spanish expedition is the campaign led in April 1823 by France in order to put an end to the constitutional regime established following the Revolution of 1820. This therefore meant the reestablishment of absolutism and the end of the liberal three-year term. In Spain, the campaign is known as "los Cien Mil Hijos de San Luis" in Castilian, literally "the hundred thousand sons of Saint Louis."
