Silver court sword, LOUIS XVI period, 1754 - 1793, 18th century. Silver mount bearing hallmarks on the double guard bridge in the 1767 model (Louis XV). Hallmarks: From the town hall of PARIS "U" crowned for the year 1783 and the double interlaced "L" (1781 - 1789) of the Farmer General Henri CLAVEL. Chiseled cuval pommel in sequence and braid with rivet button. Fuse with diamond-point braid decoration and fuse angle decorated with braids. Double plate decorated in sequence on both sides with braids on the edge. Blade with lenticular section then diamond-shaped with flattened 2 edges and engraved in thirds on both sides with interlacing and rosettes. Blade tie present in scarlet cloth. Slight play on the bridge. Length: 92.5 cm Blade length: 77 cm Blade width at the heel: 2.2 cm Silver swords were awarded to elite corps or were furnished for high-ranking military or civilian figures. The Royal label required the wearing of the sword by nobles and all those who had served under the flags since the decision of the war council of November 17, 1716 (Louis XV).
