Object description :

"J. Chenevat Office Chair Received Master On December 6, 1763"
Office armchair also called ''cabinet armchair'', with cane base, in weathered beech, carved with foliage and flowers, 18th century.
It is supported by four arched legs raised with stylized acanthus leaves and located at the four axial points.
The backrest is “gondola” shaped. Its crosspiece continues to the armrests so that the backrest seems continuous all around the seat.
The plan forms a rounded angle with a very pronounced projection on the front combining aesthetics and comfort.
This pretty model is stamped J. Chenevat for Jacques Chenevat received Master on December 6, 1763.
The career of this seat carpenter seems to have been quite brief since we only find him mentioned on rue de Cléry, ''A la Croix d'or'', for around ten years. He produced works of good quality, especially in the Louis XV style. The sculpted decoration of certain seats is quite abundant and takes up motifs from the Regency repertoire such as sunflowers, florets and stylized acanthus leaves.
