"Audoux Minnet Furniture "
Audoux Minnet (ATTRIBUTED TO) Commode 85X40X72 "FOR SALE" While little is known about the daring modernist designers adrien audoux and frida minet, the duo created playful and unique decorative objects, chairs, sconces and other furniture during the 1920s to 1960s. Rejecting the concept that seating, tables and other furniture had to be made of luxurious and exotic materials, they embraced a rustic style in their work, incorporating abaca, hemp rope and other organic materials such as beech and bamboo into their provocative designs. active on the French Riviera, - it is believed that they set up a workshop there in the late 1920s. The designers were members of the Union des Artistes Modernes, founded in 1929. The Union's raison d'être was to design furniture and decorative objects for a wider audience, not just well-off Parisians. They advocated simplicity and prioritized functionalism. The collective counts other famous furniture designers among its members, including Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Francis Jourdain,, and Louis Sognot. They created everything from lighting to chaise longues and side tables, which reflected a nautical theme and coastal lifestyle. Their imaginative works - table lamps with raffia-covered shades, oak benches with woven rope backs - were made available to passersby at the duo's retail outlet in the seaside resort of Golfe-Juan. The couple also incorporated braided rope into larger pieces such as armchairs and side tables. These pieces are often compared to the work of Charlotte Perriand, a member of the Union des Artistes Modernes, who demonstrated similar audacity. Several of Audoux and Minet's chairs are on display at the Maison Dumas in Saint-Tropez. MORE INFO ASK ME
