Very large old edition (78 CM at the highest) of the "Dancing Faun of Pompeii" in patinated bronze, on a profiled rectangular terrace. Based on an ancient Greek sculpture (dating from the 1st or 2nd century BC) and found in Pompeii around 1830 in the House called "of the Faun". Very beautiful quality of cast iron and brown patina with green "excavation" highlights. Italian work from the Grand Tour to be compared with the productions of the famous Neapolitan foundry house "Chiurazzi" active at the end of the 19th century. In superb condition.
