Splendid, elegant bonheur du jour from the Napoleon III era, in ebonized wood. On the front, inlaid ornaments in mother-of-pearl and copper, framed by gilded bronze friezes. Double door stand decorated with bronze caryatids, a drawer with a hinged writing shelf inside which there is a large compartment, shaped legs. Signed Grade' – Rue de la Paix,23 – on the lock. Louis Grade' was an excellent cabinetmaker specializing in "marqueterie" who also worked at the court of the King of Spain, Ferdinand VII.
