Circa 1860 France A first complete Pair of curtains (already a pair posted previously) in 17th century inspired wool damask dating from the Second French Empire. Wool and silk twill weave in shades of Fuschia pink, brown and aubergine. Astonishing decoration with 17th century inspired plant medallions, representing large bouquets with stylized acanthus leaves and fleur-de-lys. Classic arrangement in ironwork cartouches influenced by the revival taste of Viollet-le-Duc, in vogue under the Second Empire. Very beautiful matching trimmings sewn on three sides and lining in brown glazed cotton chintz. Clean, no holes or dirt. Excellent condition of color and conservation.
