Although there is no Persian hallmark on the box, it does bear a hallmark depicting a swan within an oval. This is a French hallmark, applied to foreign silverware with a silver content of at least 800. According to reference books: "The French swan mark indicates that the item meets a minimum silver standard of 800 and was produced in a non-treaty country. It serves as an import mark. The swan mark was used from 1893 until 1970."
Based on the appearance of the box and the style of the imagery, it can be assumed that the box was crafted no later than the beginning of the 19th century.
