"Louis XIII Style "back" Chair With Short, Wide Back, "
Charming chair called "à dos" or "à vergadin" in Louis XIII style in waxed natural wood. Our chair is a replica of a model that appeared at the end of the 17th century - beginning of the 17th century. Called a chair with a back or a vergadin, it has no arms to allow ladies to sit despite their impressive and rigid farthingale skirt. It rests on a base composed of four legs connected by an H-shaped spacer accompanied by a crosspiece on the front under the seat. The two rear legs, the front crosspiece and the spacer have a smooth shaft, while the two front legs are turned into a baluster. The back is low and slightly inclined outwards. The back and the seat are covered with a burgundy-colored fabric. The whole is in very good condition. Very beautiful manufacture from the early 20th century.
