Rare early and important study of soldiers during the Napoleonic Wars. They were trained by Napoleon as part of his Royal Guard in Paris, later entering the Russian campaign that took Smolensk. Some wear, framed. Dimensions: 46" x 36" framed approximately Footnotes: The 3rd Regiment of Foot Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard or the "Dutch Grenadiers" were part of Napoleon's Imperial Guard. The regiment was first raised in 1804 and was officially incorporated into the Imperial Guard in 1810 after the annexation of the Kingdom of Holland. The Dutch regiment retained its white uniforms and served as a palace guard in Paris in 1811, before fighting bravely in the Russian campaign of 1812. The regiment was disbanded after Napoleon's abdication in 1815.
