"Jean-Paul Jappé, born in Lorient in 1936, studied art at the École des Beaux-Arts in Quimper, where he practiced ceramics in Pierre Toulhoat's class. Invited by his teacher, with whom he maintained a friendly relationship, he created some original ceramics in the workshops of the Keraluc factory. He then completed his training in Paris at the Académie Charpentier and then at the École des Métiers d'Art. Returning to Lorient, first with the architect Henri Conan, he became a teacher at the École d'Art, where he worked from 1970 to 1996. At the beginning of his career, his work was marked by abstract art, then he asserted figurative subjects painted on the motif. The Breton departmental museum has a beautiful collection of ceramics, 19 pieces modeled, enameled and decorated by Jean-Claude Jappé in Keraluc in 1960" cf keraluc.com
