"Wool And Silk Tapestry, "the Sacrifice Of David" "
Magnificent and rare tapestry lined in wool and silk, representing the "Sacrifice of David". This work illustrates a biblical episode where David built an altar for the Lord and offered burnt offerings and sacrifices of thanksgiving, thus appeasing divine anger. The scene, inspired by the First Book of Chronicles (1 Ch 28, verse 18), is framed by a border decorated with sheaves of flowers and stylized foliage, as well as medallions inlaid with archangels of the Merkaba. Made in Brussels at the beginning of the 17th century, this tapestry is distinguished by the remarkable freshness of its colors and its exceptional state of conservation. Maintenance restorations.
