Bronze Automobile Mascot By Emile Carlier The 20th Century Contortionist

This mascot is in silvered bronze, it was made by Emile Carrier. The base is in double-decker marble. The silvered bronze element between the marble and the signature was added later. Émile-Joseph Carlier (1849-1927) French Art Nouveau sculptor. His work includes allegories, genre scenes and numerous busts, many of which are in bronze and some animals. Carlier is also the author of an allegory of Natural History adorning the facade of the Sorbonne. We know of a few works by Carlier in spelter and others in bronze, such as Young Girl Embracing Her Mother, 83 cm, Young Woman with a Cat, 75 cm, Young Peasant, 23 cm.
