Biography François Guille, known as Archiguille, born May 17, 1932 in Alès died August 30, 2017 in Switzerland, is a French painter. He painted according to a process he called "transfiguration". He painted all over the world, Jean Cocteau said of him: "only Archiguille's Painting will allow us to understand avant-garde painting." After a studio visit, André Malraux, then Minister of Cultural Affairs, declared that Archiguille "is probably the most gifted of his generation." He was surely one of the greatest contemporary painters, "Archiguille is one of those painters who think that painting can be learned, that there is a craft, a technique and that both are essential."
