Very large watercolor Pierre Brette, born in Brest on February 23, 1905, and died in Granville on June 2, 1961, is a French painter. Pierre Brette spent a large part of his life in the West of France, in Brittany and Normandy. Watercolorist, he painted and drew the landscapes of these regions: seascapes, ports, boats, fishing scenes, sunken roads, dunes, moors, landscapes ... He met Marin-Marie in 1946, who will encourage him and incite him to exhibit at the Salon de la Marine. He will participate in 1945, 1946, from 1948 to 1951, from 1954 to 1957, and from 1959 to 1961. He obtained a medal of honor there, and was named official painter of the Navy in 1962 posthumously. He is a member of the Société des artistes bas-normands, the École française and the Salon des artistes français. Public collections have acquired his works, including the Musée national de la Marine in Paris in 1958 and 1959. The Musée d'art et d'histoire de Granville and the Musée de Normandie have many works by Pierre Brette. He is buried in Granville.
