"Dish Decorating Projects By Albert Carrier Belleuse"
Projects for decorations of dishes by Albert Ernest Carrier Belleuse (1824-1887) representing troubadours. Ernest Carrier Belleuse was one of the most prolific artists of the century and had the greatest successes under the Second Empire, benefiting from the personal support of Napoleon III. His work was greatly influenced by the style of the Italian Renaissance and by that of the 18th century which he helped to bring back into fashion. Carrier Belleuse greatly contributed to the improvement of decorative and industrial arts. These two watercolor projects are from the period when Carrier Belleuse was towards the end of his life director of the works of art of the Manufacture de Sèvres
