Superb and very rare large bronze representing the famous French or Gallic rooster by Auguste Cain (1821-1894);
This is a patinated bronze print made by the founders Susse Frères in a size very rarely seen until now.
Indeed, this 62.5 cm high sculpture is impressive and very decorative.
On a round base with ears of wheat, the rooster stands proudly on its two legs, its chest and head raised as if it were singing.
The tail feathers are well erect.
Very great realism in the carving details of this bronze.
The original brown patina is very shiny.
We are in the presence of a work, although posthumous to Cain, of very high quality. It must certainly have been cast just after his death at the end of the 19th century.
Period at the very end of the 19th century.
